BUSHWHACKER LUKE DISCUSSES WANTING TO TURN THE BUSHWHACKERS HEEL IN THE WWF AND WHY IT NEVER HAPPENED
By WorldWrestlingInsanity.com

Whoa! Yeah! Wave your arms. Eat your sardines. Lick your mailman. It’s the shoot interview that truly embodies World Wrestling Insanity as ClubWWI.com welcomes the one and only Bushwhacker Luke to the site for a 47 minute shoot interview with a New Zealand flavor.
For over four decades, Luke Williams has been a staple in the wrestling industry. Alongside his cousin Butch Miller, Luke terrorized fans in the UWF, Mid-South, WWC, NWA, and more. The Sheepherders caused violence and bloodshed everywhere they went. Then, when the day came to join the WWF, the duo became fan favorites, dubbed themselves the Bushwhackers, and the rest is bloody history.

DVD Review - GUEST BOOKER with RAVEN

GUEST BOOKER with RAVEN - www.KayfabeCommentaries.com

Reviewed by Brad Dykens from Online World of Wrestling.com
http://www.onlineworldofwrestling.com/information/dvds/kc/guest-booker-raven/

A few short years ago, the Guest Booker concept single-handedly put Kayfabecommantaries.com on the map with a trilogy of high-praised DVD’s featuring the likes of Kevin Sullivan, J.J. Dillon, and Gabe Sapolsky. The idea behind these “shoot” interviews was to take some of wrestling’s most celebrated “bookers,” and present them with the task of rebooking a certain era of professional wrestling’s past - but usually sticking them with some kind of swerve. After venturing off into different areas, coming up with a couple more unique concepts, KC director Sean Oliver has finally brought back the popular Guest Booker brainchild. For the first time, the subject of the DVD was not an established wrestling booker - but probably should be. Raven has seen and done it all, growing up in the business, spending time in WCW, WWF, ECW, WCW again, WWE again, TNA and many others in between. Despite being knocked around in the violent world of extreme wrestling, and indulging a little too much in the drug culture, Scott “Raven” Levy, has somehow managed to maintain a remarkable level of intelligence - you know, for a wrassler.

Terry Funk Between The Ropes Interview

Posted in Audio Shows, Show Recaps, World Wrestling Entertainment, Wrestling with tags , , , , on May 15, 2008 by Ric Gillespie

Courtesy of Adam Samons:

Between The Ropes
Tuesday, May 13, 2008
ESPN Florida AM 1080 and AM 1060
Simulcast online at BetweenTheRopes.com

On Tuesday night, May 13, Wrestling legend Terry Funk joined hosts Brian Fritz, Dickerman, and Vito DeNucci live on Between The Ropes on ESPN Florida AM 1080 and AM 1060 to discuss his upcoming show in Redondo Beach, California, the independent wrestling scene, the WWE Hall of Fame, and much more.

Things started out with Terry talking about his selling of the famed Double Cross Ranch and why he had been out of wrestling for a little while. Terry responded that “I’m sizing down my world a little bit.” Terry also said that the nature of the wrestling scene was part of the reason for his absence. “To tell you the truth there’s a big difference between the independents now and what they were before. The independent scene has certainly changed over the last couple of years.”

When asked if he would consider working with one of the larger organizations in a creative role Terry joked that “I used to be middle aged and crazy, now I’m old and ornery or something. I have reasons for sizing down my world, personal reasons. My daughter had breast cancer and you’ve got to put first things first and family comes first.”

Terry returned to the topic of the independent scene, this time focusing on his own experiences. Terry said that he “made a damn good living at working the independent scene. It was very important to me to be my own boss…That’s why I have an attachment to guys like Raven and Sabu, those guys ran the same gauntlet as the Funker did.”

Regarding some of the challenges for startup independent promotions Funk said that many of the recent changes in the scene haven’t been good for business. “You can’t run with McMahon. You can’t start up an independent now. You have to make little indentions into the world of professional wrestling, minor indentions. Then you try to pick that up and then it might be something that starts to pick back up again. It’s not going to be an easy road, it’s a very tough road for independents.”

Next Funk was asked what he thought about mixed martial arts here in the U.S. since he saw its rise in popularity first hand years ago in Japan. Funk said that he’s a big fan and he sees it continuing to get bigger. He also mentioned that historically wrestling had started out as a sport and it came full circle into a form of entertainment. Funk said he hopes that the UFC sticks with what they’ve got and stays away from overdramatizing their product.

Terry was then asked to address the possibility of being inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame next year since WrestleMania will be in Texas. “I think it would be wonderful, but I’m not going to beg for it. I’d love to be in it, but if I’m not in it then I’m not in it. If I am in it then I think it’s a damn good deal. You have to remember what the Hall of Fame is. It is a wonderful thing, but it’s still Vince McMahon’s and what he wants to do. If Vince likes you then you’ve in there, if not then you’re not. And I’m not knocking that. If I had the power he does I’d do the same damn thing. You know, I hated Buddy Rogers and I’d make sure that son of a bitch was never in there.”

After some talk about who Terry feels should be in the Hall of Fame the interview concluded with a hysterical conversation between Terry and his dog Cooter Brown. While talking about his new DVD website www.FunkUDVD.com Terry’s dog started going crazy and Terry’s attempts to quite it down failed miserably in hilarious fashion.

This had better be the last time I write about this

It seems that the on-again, off-again relationship between TNA Wrestling’s Matt Morgan and NBC’s American Gladiators is back on.

After announcing that Morgan would be appearing on season 2 of the American Gladiators revival it was later reported that the deal had fallen apart. The issues seemed to be related to the length of the contract and some of the terms by way of appearances and such.

Well, the latest word is that a deal was reached for Morgan to be a Gladiator and that Morgan is “The Beast” a Gladiator set to appear later this season.

Supposedly, he will debut on the June 16 episode of the show which would be episode 6. His entrence would be him being lowered to the arena in a giant cage.

So, it seems that the only thing that might keep this from airing now is if the ratings for Monday’s show don’t improve once the competition gets a little weaker, I.E. when shows like Dancing with the Stars conclude their runs.

Partial credit for this goes to AmericanGladiatorsBlog.com .

As for me, I enjoy American Gladiators but covering it for this site is just sort of something I do, it isn’t my highest priority. Thus I’m not going to spend any more time on this one until the show airs, if it does..

Thanks to Kris Zellner…

Hijo del Lizmark stated today that he is very happy to be back in action after missing a month due to rehabbing from an injury in his lower lumbar region
causing pain in his left leg. Lizmark said that the injury wasn’t a one-time thing but it got worse after many months of the first pain he had and he finally
decided to take the time off he needed. Lizmark went on to say that his focus is now on defeating Dos Caras Jr. for his CMLL Heavyweight Title and that
he knows that Dos is always prepared but he will be just as prepared because he can handle any style.

Arizona State shuts down Wrestling Program

Posted in Amature Wrestling, Mixed Martial Arts, Ultimate Fighting Championships, Wrestling with tags , , , , , , , , , , on May 14, 2008 by Casey Trowbridge

Siting Financial concerns in a release on Tuesday, Arizona State University is shutting down its men’s wrestling program along with 2 other sports.

The ASU college wrestling program has produced, in recent times, wrestlers who are experiencing MMA Success. TUF 7 Cast Member C.B. Dollaway, Ryan Bader, Aaron Simpson and UFC Heavyweight Cain Velasquez are all products of the program. The 4 men have a combined 16-0 record between them.
On the surface, the suspension of the wrestling program at Arizona State may seem to be a minor occurance. However, if other schools follow in the footsteps of ASU, then it could start to impact where the MMA prospects of the future are coming from.

Not Much Of A Story, Really: Kelly Perdew Leaves ProElite, Inc.

Posted in Mixed Martial Arts, ProElite, Uncategorized with tags , , on May 14, 2008 by Ric Gillespie

Kelly Perdew, someone I’d never even heard of until after he became president of proelite.com, has tendered his resignation, and as of May 20, will no longer be involved with the company.

Even though Perdew’s role was strictly limited to the website (and, even then, he was little more than a figurehead), I’m mentioning it, because I’m certain someone will turn this “news item” into a bigger deal than it actually is.
